Missouri Congressional Election 2018 Political Courage Test

Pro-choice Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
The true common ground is wide-spread safe affordable contraception and health education to prevent unwanted pregnancies and those pro-life who wont support this are anti-sex hypocrites. On the other hand, abortion after quickening, detectable heart beat or brain activity or especially viability except to save the life or significant health of the mother I'm not comfortable with, and even "significant health" is complicated tho generally should be between a woman and her doctor. I have some affinity for giving the biological father a voice, tho difficult to implement. A nuanced reply perhaps.
No In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
Yes In order to balance the budget, do you support reducing defense spending?
deficit spending is ok; 1972 wrote senior thesis at Harvard Law w/ Stan Surrey, Asst Sec Treasury under Kennedy on simplifying tax code. tax credits not deductions, simplify, progressive, reducing corporate tax ok if end loopholes.
Yes Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
not sure how; would like to ban them both, perhaps; const convention of states to overturn Citizens United. limit personal contributions, tho I benefit from them. votehaas.com @votehaas
Yes Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
Yes Do you support lowering corporate taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
lower corporate tax but close loopholes; spending on education and infrastruture for starters. votehaas.com @votehaas
No Do you support requiring states to adopt federal education standards?
not exactly; sort of states rights on this; complicated issue tho. votehaas.com @votehaas
Yes Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, thermal)?
Yes Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
Addressing climate change high on my list of priorities. votehaas.com @votehaas
Yes Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
Mothers Demand Common Sense on gun violence: banning high-capacity magazines, universal background checks, 21 to buy gun, ban assault weapons. And public service announcements and hotline for those about to hurt themselves or others to come in from the cold and ask for help first; it would take federal funding; a signature issue of my campaign; "we care about you; it's not your fault you're in pain; others have been there too; please give us a chance to help before you take permanent solution to temporary problem." votehaas.com @votehaas
Yes Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
we should fix it not repeal and replace, tho I'm a single-payer medicare for all guy; start by lowering medicare buy-in age to 55. votehaas.com @votehaas
No Do you support the construction of a wall along the Mexican border?
No Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
as Paul Krugman says, I'd rather invest in jobs in northern Mexico than pay for wall. to be eligible for citizenship ok after being here so many years; and path should be longer b/c Republicans wont pass if they're worried about too many voting Democrat too soon. Same for DACA. votehaas.com @votehaas
Yes Do you support the legalization of marijuana for recreational purposes?
never did till recently; never used; more kids will use, terrible for brain before age 30; we need to use money to educate kids of potential harm; medicinal medijuana a no brainer; use CBD? for my arthritic hip pain. over the counter. votehaas.com https://secure.actblue.com/contribute/page/votehaas-2 @votehaas
Yes Should the United States use military force in order to prevent governments hostile to the U.S. from possessing a nuclear weapon?
Yes Do you support increased American intervention in Middle Eastern conflicts beyond air support?
only as last resort; we need to drive the peace process with sanctions and such; like the Greek play Lysistrata? women say no sex until peace. Peace to mideast by Marshall plan for Palestinians; a nice Jewish boy from Shaker Heights will bring peace to mideast. I'm big fan of taking them all to lunch at country club and talking and bringing them love and such. We went into first Iraq war too fast. votehaas.com https://secure.actblue.com/contribute/page/votehaas-2 @votehaas
1. early childhood education, reading. 2. psa's for people about to hurt self or others. 3. affordable health-care 4. protect entitlements 5. climate chance. 6. money for college 7. end animal abuse on factory farms 8. severance for workers laid off by automation or mergers/acquisitions 9. no federal tax-breaks sports teams or companies threatening to move 10. investiment in northern mexico for immigration issue 11. common sense gun laws votehaas.com https://secure.actblue.com/contribute/page/votehaas-2
